KZN.RU, July 31, Albert Murtazin). Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin was elected as
a President of the Eurasian branch of the world organization "United Cities
and Local Governments" for the fourth time. The decision was made today in
Kazan City Hall at a meeting of the General Assembly of the Eurasian section of
UCLG, which was attended by mayors and representatives of 80 cities of Russia
and abroad.
Ilsur
Metshin sincerely thanked members for the high confidence, which he had once
again. "We are conscious of the responsibility of that we have to do
together. Eurasian integration is our tomorrow, the next day our countries. We
believe that the municipal and inter-municipal cooperation exchange will help
us to make our cities and people's lives more comfortable, safer and better
"- the head of the capital of Tatarstan shared.
Recall
Ilsur Metshin was elected as a head of the regional branch of the UCLG in
October 2006. In 2009, at a joint meeting of the Eurasian regional section of
UCLG and the International Assembly of Capitals and Cities the head of the
capital of Tatarstan was re-elected for a second term, in 2012 during a meeting
of the General Assembly of the IV Eurasian section of UCLG Ilsur Metshin headed
the Eurasian department of the organization for the third time.
Also during
the meeting of the General Assembly vice presidents have been elected; the
mayor of Bishkek Kubanichbek Kulmatov, the head of Rostov-on-Don Zinaida Neyarokhina
and the head of Yakutsk Aisen Nikolayev became them. In addition, the
participants approved the statutory plan of activities and working programs of
the UCLG, the cost estimates for 2016 and the audit committee and the Board of
the Eurasian department.
