General Assembly of the Eurasian section of UCLG started its work in Kazan
(Kazan City KZN.RU, July 31, Albert Murtazin). In Kazan the General Assembly of the Eurasian branch of the World Organization "United Cities and Local Governments", chaired by Co-President of UCLG, the president of the Eurasian department of the organization, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, started its work. The General Assembly is taking place these minutes in the Kazan City Hall.
The meeting is attended by mayors and representatives of 80 cities of Russia and abroad. The Assembly will elect a president, vice-presidents and the Council of the Eurasian section of UCLG, wil hear a report on the activities of the organization for 2012-2015, and will take a number of organizational decisions.
In addition, results of the rating of the international activity of the cities will be presented to the congress participants. Recall that in August of the last year, at the meeting of the Board of the Eurasian section of UCLG in the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan, it was decided to establish such rating. The initiative was supported at the global level at a meeting of senior management of the World Organization of UCLG in Barcelona in February 2015.
