The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the reconstruction
project for the Center of Children's Creativity named after Abdulla Alish,
which annually welcomes over 2,000 students. The building, with a total area of
4,800 square meters, was built 64 years ago in the Stalinist architectural
style is a cultural heritage site, featuring high arched windows, oak railing,
a rotunda, and historic parquet flooring. In its entire history, there has
never been any renovation work.
«Since
Soviet times, we have had a well-established network of Children's Creativity
Centers, formerly known as Pioneer Homes. This is one of the facilities which
has welcomed thousands of children and helped them discover their talents
through the loving guidance of its teachers. Next year, this building will
celebrate its 65th anniversary. I want to express my gratitude to
the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov for his decision to begin the
reconstruction of this facility», – said Ilsur Metshin.
The Center for Children's Creativity named after Abdullah Alish started
construction in 1956. Architects Pavel Sanachin and Georgy Soldatov developed
its design. Not only professionals were involved in the construction, but also
pioneers and members of the Komsomol participated in the process. The
institution was named after the Tatar poet and writer in 1965.
Every year, about 2,000 children attended the center on Galaktionova
Street. The building has more than 50 classrooms, including a gym, auditorium,
ballroom, and choreography halls. The Center offers activities in various
areas, such as art, natural sciences, physical education and sports,
technology, tourism and local history, social sciences and humanities. However,
due to the condition of the building, which was built in 1961, it had to be
closed last year.
According to the restoration plan, it is proposed to completely replace
engineering systems and the roof, strengthen damaged load-bearing structures
and foundations, repair the facade and interior, and purchase new technological
equipment. The courtyard will be improved as well – small architectural forms
and a stage for performances will be installed.
During the renovation, it was decided to temporarily relocate children and
teachers to other schools in Kazan. The number of employees in the institution
exceeds 160. Currently, there are 303 different classes – they continue to
operate at 18 other educational establishments in the city.
