Under the republican program, a high-quality coating with excellent
cushioning and wear resistance was installed in the arena, as well as markings
for run tracks were applied according to international standards, and the
jumping pit was enlarged. These improvements benefit more than 500 athletes,
residents who can now visit the arena during their free time. Thanks to these
improvements, the venue can host district and city competitions. During the
inspection of the arena, the Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin spoke with the trainees
and coaches of the sports school and wished them success in upcoming
tournaments.
The history
of the Tasma Sports School dates back to 1959, when a physical culture
collective was established on the territory of the Kuibyshev Chemical Plant,
where the Trud Children's Sports School was later founded. It was later renamed
Tasma. In January 2002, due to the high achievements of track and field
athletes, the school was awarded the status of a specialized children's and youth
sports school of the Olympic reserve.
«We are pleased that the
athletics arena at the Tasma Stadium has been renovated. Currently, 1,670
children train here – a significant number that makes us think about the plans for the next year»,
– said Mayor
Ilsur Metshin. He expressed gratitude to the coaching staff for raising a new
generation of athletes.
The foundations were waterproofed, the basement was
insulated, and the roof and other areas were repaired in the building. A new
coating made in Taiwan with good cushioning and high wear resistance was
equipped in the arena, covering an area of 765 square meters. Markings for
125-meter long run tracks were also applied, which meet international
standards. For high-class athletes, the jumping pit was expanded to 8 meters,
and filled with a sand from the Ulyanovsk region. Five bows were purchased to train
shooting skills.
District and city competitions will take place at the renovated stadium,
and residents of the area can visit the venue as part of the Sport is the Norm
of Life program under the Demography national project.
Next
year, renovation of the sports school will continue, with plans to repair the
building's facade. The Kazan Development Institute is involved in the project's
development.
There are two halls in the building: a sports hall and
a judo hall. On the adjacent territory, there are football, basketball, and
small fields with an area of 10 thousand square meters. The stadium can
accommodate up to 2,500 spectators. In winter, an ice rink will be installed on
the archery ground.
More than 1,600 children train at the Tasma
Sports School in three Olympic reserve sports (athletics, archery, and judo),
as well as football. Seven athletes from Russia and 67 from Tatarstan are part
of the national teams. Fifty-two
coaches work
with students.
