Today, Mayor Ilsur Metshin visited the sewing and production workshops
of the «For Victory» movement. Workers shared on how they weave camouflage
nets, pour trench candles, sew clothes, and collect humanitarian aid for participants
in a special military operation in their free time. Volunteers send parcels to
the war zone 2-3 times a month at the request of the fighters. The volume of
assistance has been growing, and therefore, a new room and car are needed to
deliver goods to the front. Kazan Mayor proposed to hold the first humanitarian
forum of volunteers for the special military operation.
The «For
Victory! Kazan» movement was founded in 2022 by Evgenia Kotsar when her husband
went to the special military operation. Then, there was a need to purchase
equipment. The Kazan Executive Committee and ANO «Good Kazan» provided the
movement with a room measuring 182 square meters, and thanks to the efforts of
the Sovetsky city district administration and entrepreneurs, the room was
renovated and professional sewing equipment was purchased.
Volunteers
are engaged in weaving camouflage nets at five branches in the city, including
students and other residents of Kazan. They have produced over 480 nets in two
years, in various sizes and colors. They also make trench candles with the help
of the Candle Stoves people's movement, sew military equipment, and create
waterproof shoe covers. It is also planned to start producing ponchos preventing
thermal imagers. The mayor of the city promised to assist with the purchase of
the necessary materials.
Since
its opening, the association has provided more than 5,000 different items to
the military, including fleeces, camouflage suits, nets, balaclavas, evacuation
slings, hospital pillows, trench candles, dried soups, teas prepared by
volunteers, sweets, canned goods donated by entrepreneurs.
Due to
increasing production volumes, the Mayor instructed the Sovetsky district
administration to look for additional space and promised to assist with the
purchase of a truck.
«We
see that there are many foundations and associations in our city. Let's gather
together to discuss what else we can do for victory and to ease the burden for
our soldiers. They are in difficult conditions, they need to save their lives
and return home», – said the Mayor, Ilsur Metshin.
He
added that prior to the creation of ANO «Good Kazan», there was no information
on how many people were engaged in charity: «They were small streams, but we
managed to combine them into one large ocean. At Good Kazan, everyone
communicates with each other, shares knowledge and ideas, and this helps
people. Likewise, holding a humanitarian forum will help us coordinate our
efforts and provide assistance to volunteers and our soldiers».
