Today, at the 7th Congress of the Russian Association for Local
Self-Government Development, Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan, was re-elected to
the Presidium of the Council of the organization.
Yevgeny Grachyov, Deputy Head of the Office of the Russian President for
Domestic Policy, welcomed delegates from 89 regions of the country. The
participants summarized the results of work in 2024, noting the importance of
the Municipal Dialogue project and hearing a report on the first Russian
Municipal Forum «Small Motherland – Strength of Russia» and the «Service» award
with the participation of the President of Russia.
The Association for Local Self-Government Development was established in
2019. It consists of all 89 regional associations – councils of municipalities
of the subjects of the Russian Federation.
The founders of the association are the following organizations: the Russian
Congress of Municipalities, the Russian Council of Local Self-Government, the
Union of Russian Cities, the International Assembly of Capitals and Large
Cities, the Association for the Development of Historical Settlements «Russian
Province», the Association of Closed Administrative-Territorial Formations of
the Nuclear Industry, the Association of Cities of the Volga Region, and the
Union of Cities of the Center and North-West of Russia.
In July 2024, the status of the Russian Association for Local
Self-Government Development as a single organization to ensure the expression
and protection of the common interests of local governments and municipalities
was officially recognized at the legislative level in Russia.
