In Kazan, it is planned to complete the overhaul of the bridge on
Nazarbayev Street by November. The number of driving lanes will increase from 6
to 8, pedestrian and bicycle paths will be equipped, and the load of the bridge
will increase from 15 to 25 tons per axle. Presently, the construction workers
have completed the largest stage of work – the installation of bored driven piles,
and soon they will begin casting the first bridge piers. The Mayor of Kazan
Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of the work today.
The bridge over Kaban Lake is one of the main arterial roads, which is crucial
for the traffic of the city, the Mayor of Kazan noted. It was planned to
complete the overhaul by autumn of 2024, but then the deadlines were shortened.
“Thanks to the construction workers who managed to shorten the deadlines, so by
the end of October – beginning of November 2023 we will be able to open the bridge
and start traffic,”- Ilsur Metshin said. This year, Kazan will also repair
bridges over the Kinderka River, the Sukhaya River and the bridge in the
village of Kuzemetevo.
Twenty-eight workers and eleven vehicles are involved around the clock
at the construction site on Nazarbayev Street. The overhaul is carried out
according to the schedule. As of today, communication networks have been taken
out on the site, heating networks have been rebuilt, and the removal of power
supply networks is also being completed. The installation of enclosing sheeting
for the bridge piers is underway, the work has been completed by 55%. In about
two weeks, the filling of the first pier will begin. “The installation of all piers
is planned to be completed by June. After that, the workers will start
installing the bridge spans. They have already been delivered to Kazan,”- Igor
Kulyazhev, Deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee, told the Mayor.
At the entrance to the bridge from Khadi Taktasha Street, workers paved
asphalt with an area of over 1 thousand square meters and equipped a sidewalk
with an area of 321.6 sq.m. The total amount of work performed on the bridge is
15%.
For reference, the bridge over Lake Nizhny Kaban on Nazarbayev Street
was closed for renovation on September 28 due to cracks in the piers. During
the inspection, experts concluded that the bridge is no longer safe. Earlier,
in 2019, due to the emergency state of the bridge, a restriction on the
movement of heavy vehicles was introduced.
In October, for the convenience of citizens, a new sidewalk was laid
from Khadi Taktasha Street to the pedestrian bridge on N.Nazarbayev Street.
Outdoor lighting has been installed along the sidewalk.
Bypass routes, including for public transport, were organized to
minimize the inconvenience of drivers and passengers.
Albert Salikhov, Head of the administration of the Vakhitovsky and
Privolzhsky city districts of Kazan, and Stanislav Shevyrev, Director of the
Volga-Avtodor LLC contracting organization, participated in the visiting
meeting.
