The new perinatal center at the Kazan City Clinical Hospital -7 will be
able to handle up to 8 thousand births annually. It will become the main
maternity facility of the city. This was discussed at a meeting headed by the
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the construction site of the new perinatal
center. The work is planned to be completed by autumn.
“The construction of a perinatal
center is important for Kazan. By the end of August, the construction workers plan
to complete all the work at the facility,”- the head of the city said.
The center will be located in a 7-storey building with an area of more
than 20 thousand sq.m. It will have 120 beds, including 80 in a maternity obstetric
center. The new building will have 6 birthing rooms and 4 operating rooms.
According to Vladimir Zhavoronkov, Deputy Minister of Health of the republic of
Tatarstan, the perinatal center will coordinate the maternity welfare clinics
of the city and will become the main institution for the entire maternity
service. The new center will focus on the most modern technologies; a purchase
of equipment is underway.
“The perinatal center will not
only handle with delivery issues. A whole range of medical services will be
provided here, including high- risk pregnancy control, carrying out all
necessary diagnostics and postpartum period treatment,”- Vladimir Zhavoronkov
said. It should be noted that more than half of births in Tatarstan occur in
Kazan.
The center for antenatal care of fetus will be created, where pregnant
women can undergo ultrasound screening to identify development defects of the
child. Currently, six antenatal care centers have been established in the
republic, two of them in Kazan – at the 16th and 7th city hospitals, explained
Tatiana Shigabutdinova, Deputy Chief Physician at Hospital - 7. In case of
emergencies, there will be a shock room and an intensive care unit. They will
provide first aid to the expectant mother and her child if necessary.
The neonatology hospital provides 40 beds for women, where doctors will take
care of newborns with pathologies. “Rehabilitation of children with a weight of
500 grams and above will be carried out in the hospital. A closed cycle will be
organized here, so transportation of children to other hospitals will not be
required,”- explained Tatiana Shigabutdinova.
To date, the construction of the perinatal center has been completed by
21%. The construction workers have almost completed the brickwork and roofing
work. Work continues on the heating and water supply networks, the installation
of a ventilated facade is underway.
Presently, the City Clinical Hospital - 7 includes a hospital, a
treatment and rehabilitation center, 3 polyclinics, a maternity hospital, a
trauma center and 3 maternity clinics. The medical facility provides 1,384 beds
of round-the-clock service and 197 beds of day hospital, 30 clinical and 8
diagnostic departments, 63 intensive care beds and an operating unit with 10
operating rooms. More than three thousand employees, including 818 doctors,
work at the hospital.
