Today, on the
International Day of Culture, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin met with the
creative youth - street musicians, artists, sculptors, filmmakers and other
representatives of creative community. The meeting in the Q&A format was
held in the renovated building of the National Library of Tatarstan. Ayrat
Faizov, chair of the Committee on Children and Youth Affairs, hosted the
meeting.
“We continue to
keep the level of the youth city, which has a lot of students – 166 thousand,
and in total in Kazan there are 446 thousand children, schoolchildren,
teenagers, students. Young people move the city and create new trends. Today we
want to hear what kind of Kazan you want to see”, - Ilsur Metshin said.
The meeting began with a discussion of graffiti and providing
the favorable environment for the creative work of street artists in the city.
Azat Aleyev, the author of the graffiti “Mona Lisa” on Bauman Street, noted
that in Kazan, the graffiti art has a long history, there are many beautiful
works in the city. However, more and more people are seeking the possibility to
practice this art, and they need more places where they could implement their
first ideas. He also suggested holding a graffiti festival in Kazan.
The head of the city supported the idea, emphasizing
that graffiti is not only an art, but also helps the city to become more
interesting not only to citizens.
The sculptor Zulfiya Mukhamedyarova continued discussing
the urban design, she proposed to create art objects in the city, in
particular, to decorate the territory near the metro. Sculptures of goats at
the metro station “Kozya Sloboda” in her opinion would blend harmoniously.
Ilsur Metshin noted that there are many new public
spaces in the city where art objects can be designed. He suggested engaging
students – young sculptors in this work.
Maria Stuklova, ethnomusicologist, raised an important
issue of preserving the language and culture of representatives of various
nationalities living in Tatarstan. She has been studying the culture of
different nationalities for a long time. She suggested creating a recording studio
for folk singers.
The head of the city noted that in the renovated cultural
centers there are existing recording studios, many of them have professional teams.
“We need to regulate this work, to allow both beginners and professional
musicians to develop, we have all conditions for this today in the renovated
cultural centers, equipped with latest technology”, – said Ilsur Metshin.
In conclusion, the Mayor emphasized that all the
proposals announced today will be carefully considered, and such meetings are planned
to be held regularly.
