In Kazan, 884 thousand sq. m. of housing were put into operation last year. This is 13% less than in 2019. The decline in the number was affected by the difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the imposition of a self-isolation regime, First Deputy head of the Executive Committee Azat Nigmatzyanov said in his report at the Business Monday.
Among the housing that was put into operation, 693 thousand sq. m. are apartment buildings with 14427 apartments and 191 thousand sq. m. are individual residential buildings.
The housing built in Kazan accounted for 33% of the total housing stock built in Tatarstan. The amount of new housing per citizen was 0.67 sq. m per person, in Russia this indicator is 0.53 sq. m. The provision of housing per person increased from 26.4 sq. m to 27 sq. m. In the country, this indicator is 26.2 sq. m, A. Nigmatzyanov noted. “We ended up 2020 with good results and retained the position of an actively developing city,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
Experts note a steady demand for housing in Kazan, and as a result-an increase of property value. According to developers, residents of other cities and regions buy more than 30% of apartments in Kazan. The increase in the investment attractiveness of the city is due to many years of work in this direction, the Mayor noted.
