In the next five
years, it is planned to increase the average life expectancy by three years in
Kazan, to raise income levels of citizens, provide medical care and improve the
quality of education. The newly elected Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin shared
these plans at the meeting of the first session of the fourth convocation of
the Kazan City Duma.
“Kazan should become an
educational center, a magnet that attracts the best minds and talents”
The new program of city development is divided into
four blocks, linked by one idea: the program is based on caring for people, the
head of the city noted. According to him, new hospitals and clinics should be
built in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, including Children’s
Republican Clinical Hospital -2 in Zarechye.
Fifteen health facilities will be renovated and
equipped with the latest technology.
“We will continue to promote a healthy lifestyle and
bring the rate of daily fitness activities and sports up to 60% of Kazan
residents, - the Mayor said. - The average life expectancy of Kazan residents
in 2025 should grow by three years and exceed 78 years".
The second most important priority is urban environment.
Six new parks should open in Kazan, including two unique specially protected
areas on both banks of the Kazanka River. It is also planned to plant at least
100 thousand trees in the next five years.
“One of the
most important areas of our work is to raise income levels of citizens. We must
preserve the living standards of Kazan residents as much as possible and
provide conditions for attracting investment in the urban economy”, - I.Metshin
shared his plans.
The fourth
direction is the development of education. “Kazan should become an educational
center, a magnet that attracts the best minds and talents”, - the Mayor
believes.
“Like in sports, there will be
no win without maximum performance”
In recent years, the capital of the republic of
Tatarstan has achieved serious results in various areas of socio-economic
development, the Mayor reminded. “Like in sports, there will be no win without maximum
performance”, - he said.
At the first stages of work as the head of the city,
the team led by I.Metshin focused on the development Strategy of Kazan until
2015. In 2010, a new program “Five-year health plan” has become the impetus for
the development of Kazan, aiming at improving the lives of citizens.
An important component of the five-year plan was the
implementation of the Green record and 100 squares programs, which served as a
prototype of a large-scale reform of public spaces.
Universiade 2013 made a huge contribution to achieving
the goals of the Five-year health plan.
In 2015, the party program “12 priorities” was
launched. Its main goal and idea was to create a comfortable urban environment.
All this brought Kazan to the leading cities of
Russia, the Mayor said.
“We have coped with challenges-this
indicates a strong and powerful team of our Mayor”
The achievements that Kazan has managed to achieve
over the past years indicate a great coordinated work, including that of the
Federal government, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov believes.
“Everything that happens in our republic and its
capital is made with the support of the President of our country. All our
initiatives and major events that gave an impetus to the development of the
city are the trust of the first person, - said R.Minnikhanov. - And of course,
the fact that we have always coped with challenges indicates a strong and
powerful team of our Mayor”.
