The mayor of Kazan
Ilsur Metshin visited the new extension to the building of gymnasium № 93 with
a Russian ethno-cultural component in the Sovetsky district. It took a year to

the city visited the art gallery, hall, art studio and talked with students.
One of the
city's most famous schools, gymnasium № 93, was founded in 1964 and was
provided with an additional building for its 55th anniversary. Irina
Alexandrovskaya, the Director of the gymnasium and head of the Russian national
cultural association of Tatarstan, thanked the mayor of Kazan for improvement
of the approaching road to the gymnasium – the road along Krasnaya Pozitsia street
was extended directly to the building.
“The idea of construction of supplementary education building
has been generating for a long time. Initially, we wanted to divide the hall
and the dining area, which were combined in the school's project, but later it
became possible to organize classrooms for studying fine arts in the new
building”, - said Irina Alexandrovskaya, the Director of the gymnasium.
Now the new building accommodates various activities
and supplementary education sections, a new hall with an equipped stage,
library and methodological centers, a choreography hall with showers and locker
rooms, a choir and an art studio, an ethnographic museum, and an exhibition
gallery. The new building is equipped with the accessible environment and a
ramp for people with limited mobility.
Presently, 615 students study in 25 classes of the
gymnasium. On the basis of the new center for supplementary education of the
gymnasium, there is a music school, as well as a school for the future
first-grade pupil.
I.Metshin inspected the art gallery, where the works
of the famous Kazan artist Irina Antonova are exhibited now. The school hall
was presented to the mayor, where the orchestra of the music school students
was rehearsing, and other classes.
In the art studio, the mayor talked to second-grade
pupils, who told him that in addition to drawing, they play chess, musical
instruments, go into English and Russian theater clubs and other classes.
In one of the classes, the mayor met the senior
pupils, who participated in the Academic Olympiads. He asked them about their
future plans and urged them not to leave the city and choose Kazan
universities. Ilsur Metshin wished the students success in their studies and
creative work.
The mayor also inspected the renovated dining room,
which is located in the old gymnasium building. Capacity of the dining room increased
by half after the major overhaul works.
