(KZN.RU,
August 30, Alena Miroshnichenko). The celebration of the Republic Day and the
City Day in Kazan began today with a ceremonial meeting in the City Hall. Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, presented city and republican awards to people who
made a significant contribution to the development and prosperity of the capital
of Tatarstan. Also, according to tradition, citizens of Kazan were honored on
this day.
Opening the
solemn meeting, the Mayor congratulated all those present on the holiday. “From
year to year, I am pleased to welcome all the Honorary Citizens of Kazan at
this hall. We never forget about your merits and are grateful for the legacy
that you have left us. Today, heads of institutions, organizations,
enterprises, former and current leaders of city structures, people who have
been awarded the highest city awards for excellent work for the benefit of
Kazan have gathered here. Your invaluable work enabled the city to become
prosperous, beautiful and world-famous”, marked Ilsur Metshin and thanked them
on behalf of all residents of the Tatarstan capital.
The Mayor
of Kazan also noted that the city is celebrating this holiday with good results
and vivid memories of grandiose events, of which there were many. In 2019, the
capital of Tatarstan is preparing for the celebration of two significant dates:
the 75th anniversary of the great Victory and the 100th anniversary of the
TASSR. “Preparation for these events is in full swing, all work will be devoted
to the memory of the great people who forged Victory on the war fronts and in
the rear, at factories and enterprises, in memory of those who throughout the
centuries-long history of the TASSR made the republic prosperous, developed its
production, science, medicine and culture. Each of them will be honored by
name”, said the Mayor of Kazan.
Last year
was a year of hard work aimed at implementing national projects of the Russian
Federation, federal, republican and city programs for the construction of new
neighborhoods, social facilities, major road repairs, landscaping of yards,
parks and squares, noted I. Metshin. Among all the projects, the head of the
city especially noted the renovation of historical objects that were created in
the Soviet era.
“Kazan is
growing and developing fast. I would also like to mention the past WorldSkills
Championship. These competitions were first held in Russia and became the
largest in history. They were attended by 1354 representatives from 63
countries of the world. We can note with particular pride that the Russian team
took the second place in the medal standings and have 14 gold, 4 silver and 4
bronze medals. 4 well-deserved awards received, including 4 contestants from
Tatarstan. This championship is also valuable because it has raised the
prestige of working professions to a new level. The President of the RF rightly
noted that the WorldSkills movement has become an important element of the
advanced professional education system. And Kazan received a developed
infrastructure for the training of modern personnel in working competencies”,
noted I. Metshin. He also added that the assessment given to Kazan by Vladimir
Putin at the closing ceremony of the championship is important. “A brilliant,
vibrantly developing city with an ancient history, where all conditions were
created for an honest, fair fight and friendly communication”. The head of the

created the success of Kazan, as a single organism”, said Ilsur Metshin.
