Catering places for the participants of the WorldSkills Championship Kazan 2019

The catering for guests and participants of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will be organized at three sites: at the exhibition center “Kazan Expo”, the training and laboratory building of the Volga Academy of Sports in WorldSkills Village and the Tennis Academy. Rima Mukhamedshina, the director of the Department of Food and Social Catering, announced the details today at the Business Monday.

A temporary structure of the main restaurant with a total area of 9700 square meters has been erected in the exhibition center “Kazan Expo” to supply accredited participants and volunteers. 5000 square meters is occupied by a dining room for 2100 seats, said R. Muhamedshina. A 5-day menu has been developed and agreed with the Rospotrebnadzor of the republic. The food is organized as a buffet and represents five distribution lines with European national cuisine, five ones with Asian, two lines ones Halal, as well as a pizza area and a salad bar. English-speaking staff is represented in all food areas.

A separate distribution line is organized, recommended for meals of participants in the junior category. There are 14 distribution lines in the restaurant. According to R. Mukhamedshina, the decision to increase their number was made following the results of testing the restaurant at the national stage of the championship. “According to the schedule, the maximum number of people eating on peak days will be 5500 people”, said the speaker. “A room for feeding volunteers for 440 seats on peak days will accommodate up to 1600 people”.

83 tea tables will also be organized in different clusters of the exhibition center. In these areas, guests are offered hot drinks, pastries, sweets, and fruits.

The zone for issuing dry rations is organized for groups of visitors from Tatarstan and other regions of Russia. On competition days, it is planned to issue 10700 sets.

“In total, more than 1200 people were involved in the provision of food and the organization of service in the main restaurant of the Kazan Expo”, said the speaker. “All staff went through the necessary medical examinations and vaccinations”.

Another important food service facility is WorldSkills Village, where about 5700 people will live. The food zone in the village will be located according to the experience of the FINA-2015 championship on three floors of the educational and laboratory building of the Volga Academy of Sports, as well as in temporary construction. The total number of seats will be 1570. The food will be organized as a buffet with the same menu as in the main restaurant “Kazan Expo”. The maximum number of distribution lines will be 10. The planned period of the restaurant operation in the village is daily from August 17 to 28.

“Given a large number of residents and the limited area of the main dining room, meals will be organized for individual client groups at facilities adjacent to the village”, said R. Mukhamedshina. “Thus, organized groups of visitors and more than 700 volunteers, including nonresident and foreign, will eat at the Kazan Academy of Tennis. 400 seats are provided there”.

Catering for organized visitors at the Tennis Academy will be held on competition days from 22 to 27 of August, at peak times their number will be up to 1300 people.

“During the days of the competition, the food of the volunteers is transferred to the dining room of the IT school”, added the speaker at the end.

“The preparatory work has passed, everyone is ready. Now the main thing is not to forget to smile and say: we will feed everyone, everything will be very tasty”, commented Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.
