(KZN.RU,
August 12, Alina Berezhnaya). 189 surveillance cameras will be installed in
five public spaces of Kazan as part of the project “Safe City”. Rifat
Khannanov, the head of the Department of Information Technology and
Communications, reported today at the Business Monday. 45 cameras will appear
in the park near Komsomolskoe Lake in Derbyshki, 30 cameras in the park near
the HoC “Said-Galiev”, 12 video surveillance systems in the park “Dubrava”, 21
ones in Hermitage Garden, and 81 ones on Lebyazhie Lake.
In total,
419 surveillance cameras have been installed in 33 parks and squares of Kazan
for today. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the RT, almost
every crime committed in public places and on the streets is investigated using
video surveillance systems. “In 2018, the use of video surveillance systems
contributed to the solving of 1200 crimes and the identification of more than
600 administrative offenses”, explained R. Khannanov.
In total,
12554 cameras are registered in the unified register of cameras for the
operational work of law enforcement agencies. They meet the requirements of the
program “Safe City” and provide a video archive. Most of the cameras were
installed in multi-apartment residential buildings (8582). The quarterly
principle of video surveillance organization was tested for the first time. The
entrances and exits to the quarter, play and sports grounds, parking lots and
garbage sites are controlled be them, said R. Khannanov.
The access
to quarterly chambers was given to citizens. “With the administration of the
Sovetsky district, an integration module with video surveillance providers was
implemented as part of a pilot project on the portal “Open Kazan”. Residents
with personal accounts on the portal are given access to all video cameras
installed within the framework of the project located in a radius of 300 meters
from the user's address”, explained R. Khannanov.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted the importance of surveillance cameras in
the work of the police. “The advantages of video surveillance are obvious. It
is a systematic work under the program “Safe City” and, of course, a great help
for law enforcement agencies in solving crimes”, noted I. Metshin.
Rifat
Khannanov also added that the modernization of the security system at social
facilities continues. Thus, 7171 surveillance cameras have been installed at
714 municipal facilities, 2202 of which are cameras with high image detail.
