Ilnar Khidiyatov, the head of the Department of Education, reported at the Business Monday today. Catering is now included in seven indicators of the school principal quality assessment. According to the head of the Department of Education, this measure will make the work of the food department a zone of personal increased responsibility of managers.

“Our task is to cover the maximum number of Kazan schoolchildren with healthy hot meals. For its solution, schools with the best performance organized the meeting with principals, according to the results of which each school developed an action plan for improving the catering”, said I. Khidiyatov.

One way to increase coverage is to increase the number of seats in the canteens, update furniture, and build additional buildings. Already from September 1, a number of educational institutions will make changes to the schedule of visits to cafeterias and increase the duration of changes.

“I address the school principals. They always support in any of our educational tasks. But school meals should reach a new level by September 1”, said Ilsur Metshin. “It doesn’t matter that the Department of Food and Social Catering is involved in the organization of food. The principals are also responsible for this, as for the educational process and the safety of children”.

Based on studies on the quality of school meals in Kazan schools, we can conclude that educational institutions are at different levels in terms of food quality, added the Mayor. “We had an audit, which clearly showed that under equal conditions, depending on the position of the principal, the situation looks different. Both the quality of food and the coverage of hot meals are much higher when the principal cares strongly and personally engages”.
