June 3). Kazan entered the final five contenders for the title in the competition
“Youth Capital of Europe 2022”. This became known during the session of the
Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States in the Kazan City
Hall. The capital of Tatarstan has every chance of becoming a European youth
capital, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, at the Business Monday today.
A joint
meeting of the Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the States and the Council
on Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States was held for the first time on May 30
in the Kazan City Hall, said Airat Faizov, the chairman of the Committee on
Children and Youth Affairs. The heads of government bodies for youth affairs in
the CIS countries, as well as Tatiana Lebedeva, a member of the Council of the
Federal Assembly of the RF, and Grigory Petushkov, the chairman of the
“National Council of Youth and Children's Associations of Russia”, attended the
meeting. The session participants exchanged information on the implementation
of the Strategy for International Cooperation of the CIS countries until 2020.
They discussed the participation of young people in events dedicated to the
75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
In his
report, G. Petushkov announced that Kazan had entered the final five contenders
for the title in the “Youth Capital of Europe 2022” competition. “By a joint
decision of the session participants, the resolution of the seminar included a
decision on the support of Kazan by all member countries”, said A. Faizov.
“More and
more youth forums are being held in Kazan”, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of
Kazan. “Our students not only show their knowledge, high culture, education at
various stages, but also win in student forums, occupy the first places in
competitions. We could and should claim the status of the youth capital, we
have everything so that this status will be ours”.
