(KZN.RU, May 27, Alina Berezhnaya). From the beginning of
the summer season, Kazan citizens will be able to pay the fare in city buses by
credit cards. Aidar Abdulkhakov, the chairman of the Committee on Transport,
said today at the Business Monday that all buses are equipped with new travel
inspection devices. Mobile cash registers will accept both transport and credit
cards for payment, and a check will be printed. The fare by credit cards will
be 27 rubles in accordance with the decision of the State Committee of the RT
on tariffs.
In April-May, all carriers conducted training for conductors
to work with these devices. In the test mode, the fare can be paid by a credit
card of any payment system: Visa, MasterCard, MIR, and others with the PayPass.
This mode will last one month. According to A. Abdulkhakov, the interaction of
systems will be inspected during this time.
Also, the speaker recalled that since last year, travel on
trams, trolleybuses and subways can be paid by bank cards. “From the moment of
entering, the number of citizens paying for travel by a card has increased
almost 12 times and now makes up about 10% of the total number of passengers”,
said A. Abdulkhakov.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted that these changes
are very important. “We are keeping pace with modern cities, and this is
another step forward. All our life in the financial sector is moving towards
replacing cash for credit cards. Public transport is no exception in this
regard. This is an additional convenience”, commented I. Metshin.
