(KZN.RU,
April 22, Alina Berezhnaya). 20 thousand cubic meters of garbage, 1.5 times
more than on ordinary days, were taken to landfills based on the results of a
citywide subbotnik, which was held in Kazan on April 20.
In total,
more than 45 thousand people took part in the general cleaning of the city,
1500 enterprises and 350 units of equipment were involved. Igor Kulyazhev, the
deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for
External Improvement, told about this today at the Business Monday.
According
to I. Kulyazhev, citizens have cleaned more than 1.3 million square meters of
embankments, squares, parks and green areas of Kazan. 20 thousand cubic meters
of garbage (including 15 thousand cubic meters of solid waste, 5 thousand cubic
meters of bulky waste) were removed to landfills, which is 50% more than on
ordinary days.
“All
planned activities on the subbotnik were completed, but there will be work to
clean up the territories that are in the depths of the districts”, said I.
Kulyazhev.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, thanked the citizens for their activity on the
subbotnik and said that work on cleaning the city would continue. “There was
nice, sunny weather on Saturday. I am pleased by the activity of citizens who
cleaned the city with love. We still have a lot of work, before the May
holidays. Let's bring the city in perfect condition”, summed I. Metshin.
