R. Minnikhanov: “Municipal self-government is active and concerned citizens”
(KZN.RU, April 19). Local governments should be able to meet the increasing demands of citizens. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of RT, announced this today at the solemn event on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of local self-government in the KRK “Pyramid”.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Rustam Nigmatullin, the first deputy prime minister of the RT, Ekzam Gubaydullin, the chairman of the Council of municipalities of the RT, and others attended the event.
“Municipal self-government is, first of all, active citizens, caring, courageous, ready to take responsibility for people, development of cities, districts, villages, and settlements”, said R. Minnikhanov.
According to the President of the RT, the municipal community of the republic is a large unified team of public figures and managers. It includes more than 7.5 thousand deputies of representative bodies of local self-government, 6.7 thousand municipal employees, activists of 391 councils of territorial public self-government.
“One of the main tasks of local self-government is working with citizens. Being at the forefront daily, you find solutions to the complex issues of the territories and specific citizens. The results of your work form the image of the authorities among the population as a whole”, said R. Minnikhanov. He thanked the representatives of the local government of the republic “for conscientious work in the name of successful development of cities, districts, and settlements, for their great contribution to improving the life quality of citizens”, reports the press reports service of the President of the RT.
Since 2013, Russia celebrates the Day of Local Government on April 21. The decree on the establishment of this holiday was signed by Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.
