On the eve of the WorldSkills-2019, the finals of the VII National Championship “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) will be held in Kazan from 20 to 24 of May. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, ordered to organize these events at a high level, to prepare Kazan participants for the upcoming competitions at the today’s Business Monday.
Artur Valiakhmetov, the chairman of the Committee for Economic Development, said that the expanded national team of the republic in the national championship included 47 participants in 36 competencies, 30 of them are from Kazan. “The main task now is to prepare the participants. As you know, the most valuable capital is people. Personnel decides everything”, marked A. Valiakhmetov.
“We will definitely visit specialized competence centers. We will see, talk to curators, coaches, future participants. We will discuss what else can be done so that in the remaining time they could raise the level of their skill. We will definitely help them with this”, said I. Metshin.
A. Valiakhmetov said that certain competencies are assigned to each ministry and the department of the republic according to a sectoral basis. Floristic, confectionery and chef business, restaurant service and hairdressing are assigned for the Kazan Executive Committee. “In these areas, together with specialized centers of competence, the Executive Committee makes a significant contribution to the training of participants. Educational institutions are assisted in building competitive sites and providing the necessary supplies”, said the speaker. They prepare young specialists in the International College of Service, Kazan Trade and Economic College and the 41st vocational college. Currently, intensive training is underway within the approved schedules according to international standards.
A. Valiakhmetov reminded that at last year's WorldSkills national championship in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kazan participants were among the winners of the competition. They took a gold medal in terms of floristic and restaurant service competencies and a silver one in chef business. In addition, another gold award was taken among juniors in the direction “Restaurant Service”.
From 21 to 27 of January, Kazan hosted the Preparation Week for the WorldSkills Championship. On January 24, the countdown has been launched. Ilsur Metshin noted that this event marked the finish line before the start of the Championship, which the city is looking forward to and for which it is carefully preparing. “As usual, we will organize a large-scale event in close cooperation with our federal and republican colleagues”, said I. Metshin.
