I. Metshin: “All conditions for mass summer and winter sports have been created in the city”

(KZN.RU, December 10, Alina Berezhnaya). More than a third of the population in Kazan lead a healthy lifestyle and prefer active recreation. Thus, preparing the infrastructure for winter sports is one of the main tasks for today. Svetlana Vostrikova, the chairperson of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports, told about the readiness of sports facilities today at the Business Monday in the Kazan City Hall.

This winter, 18 skate rinks will operate with rental points for more than 3500 pairs of skates. This season, two skating rinks with artificial ice at the stadiums “Trudovye Reservy” and “Racketa” began the work one of the first.

Today, the skating rinks are already open at SC “Motor”, the Field Hockey Center, on Dubravnaya Street, and also the longest skating rink in Europe on the Kremlin Embankment. In the near future, it is planned to open ice rinks at the stadium “Tasma”, on the territory of the Kazan hippodrome, at the recreation center “Solnechny” in the residential complex “Zalesny”. On December 14, a skating rink with an area of 6.5 thousand square meters will open in the park “Chernoe Ozero”.

In addition, 77 plastic hockey boxes will operate in Kazan for lovers of winter entertainment. The ice is already flooded at 64 sites, his work will be completed on the remaining boxes t during this week. The number of sports facilities is also growing. Thus, two new plastic boxes with artificial turf were installed on the territory of gymnasium №5 and school №35. Sports facilities are equipped with locker rooms and stands. The boxes appeared within the framework of the republican program for the construction of multipurpose sports grounds. “We will continue this work. The benefits are obvious, seeing the desire of children to play hockey and how many citizens enjoy skating”, said S. Vostrikova.

Illuminated ski tracks will work in the Gorky Central Culture and Leisure Park, in the Berezovaya Roscha in Derbyshki, in the residential complex “Chebaksa”, at the base of the Lokomotiv stadium in Yudino, in the Gorkinsky-Ometievsky forest park, in the Pobedy Park.

12 ski bases for visitors will have rentals for 1743 pairs of skis.

In addition, a new place for skiing will appear in Kazan. On December 16, Kazan citizens will be able to break in a new ski track at the Central Stadium, its length is 400 meters. Svetlana Vostrikova noted that citizens will be able to actively spend time and also admire the view on Kremlin.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, marked that with the increase in the number of new sports facilities, the quality should also increase, in particular, the security system. “We are developing constantly, new objects appear. Therefore it is important that the quantity and quality grow as well. The city has sufficient conditions for summer and winter sports. Every park, every public space, a sports facility is redeveloped for winter sports. I address the heads of district administrations and the Directorate of Parks and Squares, the main question is security in these objects”, said I. Metshin.

This season, Kazan residents will be able to participate in 24 sports events in 9 sports. The nearest one will take place on December 25. On this day, the regional competition “Golden Puck” will start.

“Our goal is not just to occupy people, but to systematically engage in physical exercise and sports, lead a healthy lifestyle, regardless of age. All of this has a positive effect on health and quality of life”, said Ilsur Metshin.
