(KZN.RU,
November 28). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, became the leader of the
national rating of mayors in October-November 2018. He outranked his colleagues
from 88 cities of Russia. A new study on the evaluation of mayors’ activity in
regional capitals and large financial and industrial centers of the Russian
Federation during this period was prepared by the Information Communications
Center Rating together with the Financial University under the Government of
the Russian Federation.
The results
of the national rating are obtained on the basis of absentee questioning, as
well as correspondence and in-person surveys of representatives of the expert
community.
An
international recognition of Ilsur Metshin’s merits was his re-election as
vice-chairman of one of the committees of the Council of Europe. In addition,
Kazan was among the leaders in the life quality rating of the population of
Russian cities. The holding of an international competition for the creation of
a modern eco-district was mentioned among the significant events of this
period, held in Kazan. Experts note that it is intended to set a new high standard
for the development of the urban environment throughout the country.
Large-scale
works are being carried out to overhaul and equip medical institutions in the
city, against unauthorized landfills (according to ONF, Kazan is the leader
among million-plus population cities in this area). Thus, 290 out of 337
identified landfills were eliminated at the time of the re-inspection.
