(KZN.RU, October 22). During the working visit to San Francisco (USA), the delegation of the RT visited the Laboratory of Virtual Interaction and lectures on biomedicine and computer technologies at the Stanford University.
The delegation included Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Roman Shaikhutdinov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Informatization and Communication of the RT, Taliya Minullina, the head of the Investment Promotion Agency of the RT, and others.
They conducted a tour around the university for Tatarstan guests. During a brief presentation, they told about the history of the university and its current state, about the innovations used there and the principles of student learning.
The delegates visited the Hasso Plattner Design Institute (the unofficial name “D-School”), a design school based at the Stanford University and the Laboratory of Virtual Interaction (VHIL). The mission of the laboratory is to understand the dynamics and consequences of human interaction in simulating virtual reality (VR) and other forms of human digital representations in the media, communication systems and games. Today they are engaged in research in the areas of automatic detection and analysis of facial functions, added perspective, digital anonymity, intermediaries and facial expressions, and modeling.
Such large organizations as Google, the US National Science Foundation, CISCO, the Stanford Longevity Center, Konica, and others are among the sponsors of the laboratory.
During their stay in Stanford, the delegation also attended lectures at the Higher Business School. They were devoted to modern technologies and methods of achieving longevity, research in the field of biomedicine, and the development of such a direction as a virtual assistant.
On the territory of Stanford, Rustam Minnikhanov held a brief meeting with representatives of the Tatar community living in California.
