(KZN.RU, October 22). Today, a delegation of the RT visited the interactive science museum “Exploratorium” as part of a working visit to San Francisco (USA). The delegation included Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Roman Shaikhutdinov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Informatization and Communication of the RT, Taliya Minullina, the head of the Investment Promotion Agency of the RT, and others.
Guests from Tatarstan had a tour of the halls of the museum and also learned about the principles of its work and the organization of scientific and project activities with schoolchildren.
The Exploratorium was founded in 1969 in the Palace of Fine Arts by the physicist and teacher Frank Oppenheimer.
The museum is divided into several predominantly thematic exhibitions: Seeing and Listening, Human Phenomena, Living systems, Tinkering, including exhibits on electricity and magnetism, an Outdoor Exhibits, and Observing Landscapes. The new site, which opened in 2013 on piers 15 and 17 on the Embarcadero, features about 600 exhibits. About 1.1 million people visit the museum annually.
The principles of the Exploratorium are the availability of science for the average person and the originality of presentation form of scientific knowledge. Visitors learn how the universe is organized, what place our planet occupies in it, what human achievements are the main and most significant, and more. The Exploratorium Museum vividly demonstrates all the theories that modern physics recognizes. Everything is shown on experimental stands, which makes the museum interesting for both children and adults.
In 1984, an institute was opened on the basis of the museum, targeting middle and high school science teachers.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, the experience of the Exploratorium Museum in terms of organizing work with schoolchildren, developing children's research skills, interest in physics and other sciences is very interesting for the republic. Thus, attention should be paid to its study, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
