(KZN.RU, August 27, Alsu Safina). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, emphasized the prestige of the working professions and raising it in the implementation of the educational policy in schools at the traditional city August Conference of Educators in the CLC Lenin.
Kazan will host guests and participants of the World Championship in the working professions “WorldSkills” in 2019. According to the head of the city, it is necessary to train our candidates, participants in such competitions.
The Mayor reminded that recently Kazan children performed at the All-Russian competition of working professions in Sakhalin. The Kazan participants were qualified for the final in three competencies: floristry, restaurant service, cooking, and all three participants won prizes. In total, the Tatarstan team brought 71 awards, including 33 gold medals. In the overall medal standings, Moscow took the first place, Tatarstan – the second one, the Moscow region – the third one.
“We need the development of the WorldSkills movement not just for our ambitions. I have no doubt that the championship in Kazan will be held at a proper level. It is important that it will leave an inheritance for Kazan and our citizens”, noted the Mayor. “The analysis of the labor market and employment says about the same thing every year: the shortage of workers, fitters, crane operators, and drivers”.
Ilsur Metshin drew attention to the fact that the President of the RT raised the topic of the prestige of the working professions at the meeting of workers of the republic's education in Kukmor. The head of the republic noted that the entire complex of demanded spheres should work: oil and petrochemicals, IT, agro-complex. And this is possible only when there are qualified trained people work. “Therefore, the issue of the prestige of working professions is important for the city and the republic. We must take this into account when implementing educational policies in schools”, said I. Metshin.
The Mayor of Kazan also noted that it is necessary to continue the interaction of schools with higher and secondary educational institutions and enterprises-flagships. “The current practice shows the effectiveness of this direction, when the children from the school bench not only see their future, but also get real skills and knowledge for the chosen profession”, said Ilsur Metshin. “Teachers only open the doors, you go there by yourself”.
