I. Metshin: “Soon the schoolboy will make remarks when his mother throws a PET bottle into a common container”

(KZN.RU, August 27, Alsu Safina). The program of ecological education of students, which starts in Kazan schools, should become a part of the concept of education of young citizens. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, expressed such an opinion today at the traditional city August Conference of Educators, which took place in the CLC Lenin. The participants of the conference were shown an animation film specially created for the children of Kazan, in which they explain why the separate collection of garbage is needed.

The Mayor drew attention to the fact that eco-education includes a number of components: separate garbage collection, and profile ecological classes, and care of stray animals, but it is the most important project to the environment protection. The work on eco-education should become constant and systematic, according to I. Metshin.

“We should instill in our children the usual, elementary, but vitally necessary skills, beliefs and habits for a healthy lifestyle, a favorable ecological environment”, noted the head of the city. “Children quickly take everything new and interesting. Tomorrow the schoolboy will begin to make remarks to parents when they throw an empty PET bottle into a common container”. It is important to unite efforts in this matter and work together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RT, teachers, activists, and environmentalists. “The adopted educational program of ecological education should not remain on paper. Its implementation should become one of the main components of the concept of educating a young citizen”, said Ilsur Metshin.

Ilnar Khidiyatov, the head of the Department of Education, reminded that resource centers for ecological education are being created on the basis of 12 schools in the new academic year. The project “Ecological class” provides the creation of profile ecological classes at the initial stage of training. “The project successfully started in the gymnasium №3 of the Vakhitovsky district, where the staff of the Ministry of Ecology of the RT and the activists of public eco-movements conducted ecology classes”, he said.

The educational institutions of the Aviastroitelny district will join the city's ecological initiative for separate garbage collection from the new academic year. An action plan for information support of the pilot project was developed within the framework of the program.

Rafis Burganov, deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Education and Science of the RT, Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee, deputies of the State Duma of the RF and the State Council of the RT, as well as pedagogical workers were demonstrated an animation film about separate garbage collection of at the meeting. The head of the Department of Education recommended teachers and school principals to actively use it in the framework of the ecological education program for schoolchildren.
