(KZN.RU, August 8, Alsu Safina). A week ago, a pilot project on separate collection of garbage was launched in the Aviastroitelny district of Kazan. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the container site in the yard of the houses №41, 43, 45, and 47 on Lukin Street and asked the opinion of local residents about the experiment. Also, the head of the city also got acquainted with the course of repair of the pavement in this yard and ordered to carry out a comprehensive improvement here the next year, organizing a sports and children's playground.
At the beginning of August, eight containers with yellow and gray stickers were installed in the yard on Lukin Street. They indicated in Russian and Tatar what kind of garbage must be put in them. Iskander Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee, said that informational posters are hanging in the entrances, brochures are distributed in the transport, and seminars for the heads of houses were held before the start of the pilot project. In addition, the participants of the city environmental movements explained to the residents why it is necessary to sort out the garbage. In the mornings, there are volunteers at the container sites who can also answer all questions about trash sorting.
According to Iskander Giniyatullin, the majority of residents of the district reacted positively to the innovation. Even if it is too early to talk about practical results, there is positive dynamics, people are gradually learning to sort out the garbage.
“Let's try together. There will not be ecological Kazan of tomorrow without it”, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.
The head of the city instructed the Committee of Housing and Communal Services and the management company to focus on the explanatory work. “This issue cannot be solved at once. The first is explanatory work”, said Ilsur Metshin. “The second is to keep the container areas clean and remove garbage in time. And you need to listen carefully to the population, their wishes and comments and respond quickly”.
Ilsur Metshin marked that the pilot project is being implemented on the initiative of the city authorities. “This is the authority of the regional operator, but we are their assistants. We want to see a separate collection of garbage in Kazan as soon as possible, and to live in a clean city with the world-level ecological standards”, said the Mayor.
Then the Mayor got acquainted with the progress of roadwork in this yard and Przhevalsky Street, №2, 4. The asphalt-concrete covering of the carriageway and sidewalks is replaced. The work in the yard on Lukin Street was completed at 95%, in the Przhevalsky Street – by 60%. The total cost of repairs amounted to more than 16.8 million rubles.
Ilsur Metshin drew attention to the fact that a large yard area on Lukin Street requires a comprehensive improvement and a sports and children's playground. “There are more than a thousand inhabitants. No matter how many cars there are, we will not be able to make parking lots in front of each entrance anyway. But landscaping, sports and children's playgrounds can be arranged”, said the Mayor.
Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, Timur Alibaev, the head of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts’ administration, and representatives of contract organizations also attended the event.
