The Sabantuy will be celebrated in Berezovaya Roscha and in the Lebyazhie Park in Kazan

(KZN.RU, June 18, Alsu Safina). On June 23, Kazan celebrates the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy. It will be held at two sites of the city: in the Berezovaya Roscha of the Mirny Settlement and the park zone of Lake Lebyazhie. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, invited residents, guests of the city and fans who will come to the match of the national teams of Colombia and Poland to the celebration at the Business Monday.

“The Sabantuy is not just a visiting card of Kazan and our people. It is a holiday that unites generations. This feast preserves the tribal memory of the Tatar people. We always wait for our guests, citizens with families and children”, said Ilsur Metshin. “We are glad that we can return Sabantuy to of the Lebyazhie Lakes after its restoration”.

“The Sabantuy is an interactive holiday, it assumes that guests become not only spectators, but also participants”, marked the Mayor and urged to organize the event so that everyone could take part in various contests and competitions.

Festive events will begin at 9.30 am at both venues, said Azat Abzalov, the head of the Department of Culture. By tradition, the concert program and competitions on the national wrestling of the Kuresh have been prepared for the holiday, in which the best batyrs of Kazan and Tatarstan will take part. Winners in all weight categories (6 categories among men and 5 categories among boys) will be awarded with valuable prizes. Also the absolute champion of the tournament will be determined, which will receive a traditional prize: a ram and a car.

15 national competitions and contests will be held on the sites. Separate areas with children's programs will be organized for the youngest guests of the holiday.

Rural farmsteads reflecting the culture and way of life of the Tatar people will be located at the Sabantuy celebration areas. Creative bands of the districts will perform there.

Retail spots and summer cafes will operate, souvenirs, Tatar national culinary products, as well as handicrafts will be sold at each Sabantuy site.

The Sabantuya sites will run approximately until 4 pm.

“Today, preparation for the Sabantuy holiday is almost finished”, said Azat Abzalov.

After lunch, the folk festivities will continue on the territory of the Kazan Hippodrome, where traditional equestrian competitions will be held, consisting of 12 races. It starts at 3 pm and will be accompanied by a concert program.
