I. Metshin about the participants of the festival “Big Break”: “This is another generation of young people”

(KZN.RU, April 16, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, congratulated the winners of the city festival of general education institutions “Big Break”. The gala concert was held today on the stage of the hall “Academy” of the Volga Region Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Ilsur Metshin reminded that the festival was held 10 times and told about the creation of the “Big Break”. “10 years ago, when we were just thinking of winning the Universiade, we needed creative forces. We already had the idea to do our best with our talents even then. And together with the Directorate, the Youth Committee, the Education Department of Kazan, the heads of regional administrations, we decided to hold the first contest”, said the Mayor.

The “Big Break” contest has been held in Kazan since 2008. 162 schools of the city take part in it. This year 1800 talented schoolchildren from 1 to 11 grades competed for the title of the most talented. Members of the jury were Rimma Ibrahimova, a People's Artist of the TASSR, Kobul Amonov, a member of the UNESCO Choreographic Council, Ilnar Sungatov, a director, and others. They selected the finalists in four directions: musical, dance, theatrical, and original. The main prize of the contest is 1 million rubles, which should be spent on the development of the infrastructure of the winning institution. Last year, the school №177 had won. Sound and light equipment in the assembly hall and lighting equipment in the video studio were purchased for the money. The second million from the prize fund is divided among the silver and bronze medalists, as well as laureates in nominations.

The Mayor of Kazan presented awards to the winners. This year, the school №33 of the Aviastroitelny district took first place. The gymnasium № 2 of the Moskovsky district is on the second line, and the third line was divided among the gymnasium №11 of the Sovetsky district and the gymnasium №19 of the Privolzhsky district. The gymnasium №155 of the Novo-Savinovsky district was marked for creative approach and creativity of thinking. The school №57 of the Kirovsky district was marked for the embodiment of innovative thought. The gymnasium № 39 of the Vakhitovskiy district received an award for professionalism and aesthetic elegance, while the school №167 of the Sovetsky district – for the creative search and romance of the soul. Diplomas of finalists were awarded to the school №23 in the Novo-Savinovsky district, the gymnasium №4 of the Kirovsky district, the gymnasium №1 of the Vakhitovsky district, and the gymnasium №161 of the Sovetsky district. In addition, Galim Khannanov, the winner of the online quiz, which was held during the gala concert, will receive a trip to the intellectual camp from the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, the Mayor noted that over the years, a large number of talented children took part in the festival. The stage became a home place for them along with the school. The Mayor of Kazan thanked the directors of educational institutions and their deputies for educational work, teachers and parents for their great work. “This is an additional burden, but we are doing a lot of work together with you. They are completely different children, they behave in a relaxed manner on the stage, do not hesitate to dance, sing in a collective. This becomes the norm for them, this is another generation of young people”, said Ilsur Metshin. “There are no losers in this competition, because “Big Break” is our common big holiday. For those who took the second and third place, this is an occasion for the next year to gather strength and try to prove that they are the best. But for me, as for the Mayor, you are all equally loved, good and the best!”.
