I. Metshin: “We couldn’t have dreamed that 5.5-6 billion rubles for road repairs will become a reality”

(KZN.RU, March 5, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). “This year there will not be a minute for slacking, most of the road repairs will have to be completed before June 1 in connection with the World Cup”, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, said on the Business Monday, commenting on the road works for the current year. Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, announced them in his report.

5.5 billion rubles was allocated for repair of city roads in 2018: 1.6 billion for the implementation of the priority project “Safe and qualitative roads”, 2.9 billion rubles for bringing the road network to the normative state, 1 billion rubles for repairs of yard territories. This is not much less than in 2017, which became absolutely unprecedented for the city in terms of the roadworks. More than 3 million square meters of streets (175 roads) were repaired, including 21 settlements, 7 roads to gardeners' partnership, 340 households, 46 driveways.

“This year we are waiting for an equally busy road season”, said the head of the committee.

Road-repair work starts when the favorable weather conditions will appear. First of all, the workers will start implementing the priority project “Safe and qualitative roads”, which is half realized at the expense of the federal budget. Roads will be renovated on 39 streets within the framework of it. 32 traffic lights, 819 road signs, 10 km of fences and artificial irregularities will be installed at all places of concentration of road accidents (93 ones).

In particular, this year, priority measures will be taken to provide transport services for the residential complex “Salavat Cupere” for a total of 165 million rubles. This is an arrangement of reversal loops on the Gorkovskoye highway, as well as roads from Fattakh Street to Tetsovskaya Street with stop pockets and sites with outdoor lighting networks and traffic management facilities, repair of Khibinskaya and Aktanyshskaya streets. The construction of the understudy road is included in the draft of the new General Plan of the city.

By summer a new section of the road will open along Bondarenko Street. There will be 4 road lanes with sidewalks, outdoor lighting networks, storm sewerage, road signs and marking. The total cost of construction is 139 million rubles.

Major repairs on the street Magistralnaya in the Privolzhsky district is among the most ambitious projects this year. Engineering communications in the “body” of the road are worn out. There is no drainage from the roadway. Thanks to the support of the President of the RT, 622 million rubles have been allocated for the complete reconstruction of this street. Now work is underway to reorganize engineering communications. “622 million rubles were allocated to the long-suffering street Magistralnaya. It is close to the coastline, and the underground waters made nothing of what we repair. The good share of money will go to what is underground. This will allow us to exploit this road for many years”, marked Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.

He noted that a few years ago, the city authorities only timidly dreamed of allocating 5.5-6 billion rubles to roads repair. But now it has become a reality thanks to the strong-willed decision of the republic's leadership. “Last year, we repaired 340 yards, and thought that this is the highest point we can count on. But today we thinking 430 yards, and at the end of the summer construction season, we can talk about 73% of the renovated yards”, marked the Mayor. “We face very serious challenges. It's one thing the availability of funds, and the other is to perform these works qualitatively and on time. And we need to do many of them until June 1 in connection with the start of the World Cup and the arrival of guests. Therefore, there will be no time for slacking.
