The universities-winners of the Freshman Day-2017 were the KNRTU-KAI, the KNRTU-KCTI, and the KFU

(KZN.RU, November 27, Mikhail Chentsov). The results of the festival “Freshman Day-2017” were summed up in Kazan. The gala concert was held at the CSC KFU UNICS. According to the results of the contest, the KNRTU-KAI named after .A. Tupolev, the KNRTU-KCTI, and the KFU were included in the “Platinum Third” of the winner universities. Ilsur Metshin, the head of the Tatarstan’s capital, greeted the talented Kazan first-year students from the main stage of the event.

The citywide Freshman Day is held in Kazan for the 24th time. Since October, the festival has been held at the faculties and departments of educational institutions. In this year, more than 5 thousand freshmen tried themselves in the creative role on the stages, and the audience was more than 30 thousand people.

The best creative performances of students were presented at the festival. The right to open the gala concert went to the vocal ensemble “Master 1.0” and the dance groups “GrooveUP”, “Forceupcrew”, “Relax”, and “LionsFam”, who performed the popular song “Coolest of all”.

After that, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and Ilshat Gafurov, the rector of the Kazan Federal University, the chairman of the Council of Rectors of the RT, went to the stage for a welcome speech.

The head of the Tatarstan’s capital greeted the students on behalf of the city and its residents. “Good evening, dear friends! Having looked at the prologue, I feel different feelings and all of them are positive: pride, joy, admiration for what talented students we have and what new creative forces are pouring into Kazan. More than a third of all first-year students of higher educational institutions came to us from outside Tatarstan and its capital. Welcome to Kazan!” said the Mayor.

“Along with knowledge and the process of becoming professionals, be sure to find time for what is happening on the stage today. We wish you a happy, memorable student's years. Create and dance, these years will pass very quickly, unfortunately”, said Ilsur Metshin o the first-year students.

Ilshat Gafurov congratulated students on the occasion on behalf of the rector's corps of universities. “Today the best of the best are present and take part in the festival. I want to congratulate you on the fact that you became students of our Kazan universities, some of the best in Russia, and joined our friendly team. I wish you good luck and to achieve all your goals”, he said.

The main idea of the gala concert was the confrontation of first-year students ("herbivores") and undergraduates ("predators"). Throughout the evening, they competed in various contests.

The main decoration of the Freshman Day was the creative performances, prepared by the students. The loud and sonorous voices of the vocalists were replaced by colorful dances mixed with STEM and ironic videos.

As part of the competition program, the best performances in the number of nominations were determined. The culmination of the gala concert was the announcement of the “Platinum Third” of the winning universities. This year they were the KNRTU-KAI named after A. Tupolev, the KNRTU-KCTI, and the KFU.

The organizers of the festival were the Kazan City Hall, the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs, the Center for Work with Student Clubs of Kazan Universities, and the administration of universities.
