I. Metshin: “We are here to get acquainted with the best practices”

(KZN.RU, October 18). The 44th “WorldSkills Competition-2017”, which started in Abu Dhabi, gives Kazan the opportunity to learn the best world practices in organizing and holding this event. Today, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, announced this during the world championships held at the ADNEC exhibition complex in the capital of the UAE. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, heads the delegation of the republic.

“We are here to get acquainted with new practices. Each next championship is a new approach to holding such a major event. We came by a large team led by President Rustam Minnikhanov in order to learn. We will surely take all the best from here, bring our knowledge, and make it so that the next championship will be better than the previous one”, said I. Metshin in a conversation with reporters.

World championship on professional skills “WorldSkills Abu Dhabi-2017” is held in Abu Dhabi from 14 to 19 of October. 1255 contestants and 1084 experts, 60 official and technical delegates from 59 countries and “WorldSkills International” member regions participate in it.

52 competitive competencies are presented at the championship (49 main and 3 presentation ones). The national team of “WorldSkills Russia” consists of 58 participants, who are involved in all competencies. 8 students from Tatarstan participate in the Russian team for 7 competencies.

Ilsur Metshin highly appreciated the organization of the championship in Abu Dhabi and noted that cooperation with specialists from the UAE has already been established. “Everything is very professional. There is an elegant equipment, trained staff, and clear logistics. Everything is at the highest level. Organizers of the “WorldSkills Abu Dhabi-2017” will come to us after this championship. This is common practice. In 2021, they will invite us. It is always better to do a little more than in the previous event. Interest in the “WorldSkills” is growing every year. We hope that the number of participants and acceding countries will increase after two years”, said the Mayor of Kazan.

The ceremony of transferring the “WorldSkills” flag to the delegation of the Russian Federation will take place at the closing of the championship. Our country will host the World Championship of Professional Skill in Kazan in 2019.

It is planned that the “WorldSkills” flag will be handed to Olga Golodets, the head of the Russian delegation and the deputy chairman of the Government of the RF, the chairman of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the World Championship of Professional Skills in Standards of the WorldSkills in Kazan. Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT and the deputy chairman of the organizing committee, as well as members of the organizing committee: Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Robert Urazov, the general director of the union “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia), Alexey Likhachev, the general director of the State Corporation for Atomic Energy “Rosatom”, will receive the flag as well, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
