Ilsur Metshin: “This solution will relieve the whole transport node”

The first stage of roadworks will be completed by early November in Kazan, as a result of which the road section on Barudi Str. will be expanded to four lanes (from Batyrshin Str.to Serov Str.) and there will be turnarounds on Serov Str. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, inspected the progress of the work.

Roadworks began on this site in August and are conducted on an area of about 8 thousand square meters. The asphalt will be replaced at 2.5 thousand square meters, and work on the expansion of the carriageway and the settling of turnarounds will be carried out on an area of 5.5 thousand square meters. The cost of the facility is 49.5 million rubles. This year only the lower layer of asphalt will be laid, the object will be ready completely in the next repair season.

During the meeting, Eduard Danilov, the director of the GKU “Glavtatdortrans”, who acts as the customer, and Airat Minnullin, the general director of the contract organization OOO “Volgadorstroy”, reported to the Mayor about the progress of the work. There is a marshy ground in this area, which required additional drainage and tie-in to the storm collector. In addition, engineering communications were transferred. For today, the foundation for the construction of the road has been completely excavated in Barudi Street, where the road is being expanded, the underlying layer of sand and the base of crushed stone are laid, and the side walls are installed. Today the installation of the upper layer of the black rubble base begins. This is necessary to enhance the bearing capacity and extend the life of the road. After that, the laying of the bottom layer of asphalt begins within a week.

“In October, we plan to finish the asphalt-concrete coating in the lower layer and leave the top layer for the spring”, said Eduard Danilov and explained that this will ensure the quality of the road. The movement on this site and on turnarounds at the intersection of Barudi, Voskhod, and Serov streets will be launched this year. In addition, road signs will be installed and 9 traffic lights will be put into operation. Also, new fences will be installed on the streets of Barudi, Serov, and Voskhod.

This section of the road is one of the most problematic in the district and local residents have repeatedly complained about it. Since the beginning of this year, 13 road accidents on Serov Street and 25 at the intersection of Serov and Barudi streets have been registered. The Mayor of the city drew attention to the intensity of the traffic there.

The construction of new residential buildings is being carried out in the micro-district, which will soon affect the population increase by 3 thousand people.

The expansion of the road and the arrangement turnarounds will allow dividing traffic flows, unloading the intersection of Serov and Barudi streets and improving transport safety.

“This small solution will unload the whole transport node”, noted the head of the city. Ilsur Metshin also marked that it is necessary to carry out the work within the deadlines.

Sergey Mironov, the head of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts’ administration, Albert Ibragimov, the first deputy chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, and others also took part in the meeting.

This year about 3 million square meters of roads and yards will be repaired in Kazan.
