The Mayor of Kazan: “Today is a historic event, we began filling the Lebyazhie Lakes with water”

(KZN.RU, October 9, Alsu Safina). The Lebyazhie lakes system Svetloe, Bolshoe and Maloe will be filled with water in the next 3-4 months. Today, in the presence of Alexey Pesoshin, the prime minister of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and representatives of the city and republican mass media, the pumping equipment was turned on for pumping water from the Izumrudnoe Lake along the water pipeline to the Lebyazhie Lake. The Izumrudnoe Lake is connected by underground water with the Kuibyshev reservoir.

While the water along the 400 mm diameter water pipe gradually began to fill the Svetloye Lake, then it will "go" to Bolshoe Lake, and then Maloe. The last two are now separated from one another by a dam. Two pumps were installed to fill the lakes with water: a working and a reserve one. The pump capacity is 500 m3. at one o'clock. The required volume of filling is 1 million 447 thousand 795 cubic meters. m of water. In the future, it is necessary to pump an average of 38.4 thousand cubic meters. m of water every year to maintain the normative water level. To do this, you need to turn on the pump for 77 hours.

The chairman of the Government of the RT called the project of eco-rehabilitation of the lakes system grandiose and very important. “For many years we dreamed that it would happen, there were attempts”, noted A. Pesoshin. “The great work that was carried out by all structures and services gave the result and gives hope that this is the way to achieve such great results”.

“We discussed the eco-rehabilitation of the Lebyazhie lakes system for a long time. Today is a historic event. We started filling the lakes with water”, said the Mayor of Kazan.

The Mayor expressed gratitude for such a huge gift to the President of the RT, the prime minister of the RT, and the GC “TAIF”, which acted as the main investor of eco-rehabilitation. Farid Minigulov, the general director of the PAO “Kazanorgsintez”, noted that they are considering the possibility of further participation of the company in the city and republican projects.

Ilsur Metshin marked that the implemented eco-rehabilitation project has no analogs in Russia. “This is just the first step. The next stage is the improvement, sidewalks, all necessary infrastructure”, said the Mayor.

Natalia Fishman, an assistant to the President of the RT, said that the project of further improvement of the Lebyazhie Lakes territory was marked by the Union of Architects of Russia with a silver sign at the festival “Zodchestvo” that was held in Moscow on the weekend. “We hope we will continue to develop this territory with the support of philanthropists”, she noted. In the future, the project of bio-rehabilitation of lakes will be developed jointly with scientists, which will provide the population of lakes with vegetation and stocking.

Works on improvement are planned to begin next year. Liliya Gizzyatova, the chief architect of the improvement project, noted that it is supposed to connect all the Lebyazhie lake systems with a walking zone, according to the concept. In addition, the plans are to make two large beach areas: the Bolshoe and Maloe Lebyazhie.

In August of last year, the improvement of the forest “Lebyazhie” was started, and full-scale work on eco-rehabilitation of lakes began this year.
