The R. Minnikhanov discussed the inter-parliamentary cooperation with the delegation of New York

(KZN.RU, September 18). Today, Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, met with the delegation of the Legislative Assembly of the State of New York in the Government House of the RT. Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of the RT, Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Engel Fattakhov, the deputy prime minister and the minister of Education and Science of the RT, Radik Gimatdinov, the assistant to the President of the RT, Airat Sibagatullin, the minister of Culture of the RT, and others participated in the meeting.

Members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of New York arrived in the republic at the invitation of Farid Mukhametshin, the chairman of the State Council of the RT.

“The inter-parliamentary cooperation is very pleasant for us. This meeting is the guarantor of preserving our relations”, marked the President at the beginning of the meeting. He noted that, despite the sanctions imposed by the United States on Russia, the people of both the country and the republic retained a benevolent and calm attitude towards the United States. He invited the guests to personally verify this.

The head of the republic drew attention to the fact that Tatarstan retained all previous contacts with the American business. Moreover, it tries to increase them. “Two beautiful modern enterprises in the special economic zone were introduced during the period of sanctions. And today, economic indicators for our trade turnover are growing. Over the first six months, we have increased our trade and economic turnover by more than 2 times. This means that life is moving on”, said Rustam Minnikhanov and added that today's meeting should also help the process of establishing relations between the countries.

“I am sure that our political differences will find a logical conclusion because this cannot last indefinitely. At some point, each of us must take a step back, and then agree on how to move forward”, the President addressed the parliamentarians of one of the US states.

Rustam Minnikhanov marked that all the joint Russian-American enterprises, previously opened in the region, are working successfully. At the same time, there are many opportunities and directions for further development of mutually beneficial business: aircraft, helicopter, ship and automobile building, oil production and oil refining, agriculture, digital economy, and innovations, including medicine, pharmacology, and science. “I think that it is necessary to meet often, not every 6 years. We need to do some inter-parliamentary program”, emphasized the President of the RT. He also said that he intends to visit the US in October. Working trips to Texas and San Francisco are scheduled.

Mr. Louis Sepulveda, co-director of the delegation from the State Assembly of New York, confirmed that regardless of what is happening at the federal level, members of the delegation are aimed at creating the preconditions for joint work of the peoples of the two countries. “I hope that this visit will create opportunities not only for us but also for the cooperation of future generations, despite disagreements between our federal governments”, he said on behalf of the delegation, according to the website of the Government of the RT.
