Children get ill less by 5-8% in the renovated schools

(KZN.RU, August 21, Mikhail Chentsov). On September 1, more than 78000 Kazan schoolchildren and 2000 kids will open their doors to the updated classrooms and groups of kindergartens. Major overhaul works in 13 schools and 9 kindergartens, cost 523.6 million rubles, are being carried out at the completion stage in the capital of Tatarstan. Iskander Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Housing and Utilities Committee, reported this today during the Business Monday in the Kazan City Hall.

According to the speaker, as in previous years, 8 types of works were performed in schools: repair of the roof, facade, blind areas, engineering systems, bathrooms, entrances, replacement of doors and windows, and also in kindergartens, the installation of warm floors in nursery groups and the construction of shade shelters on walking grounds.

I. Metshin emphasized the importance of the overhaul program of schools, which started in 2012. “It is difficult to overestimate the significance of this program. I well remember that desperate, almost melancholy feeling by looking at our schools. It was an unbearable concrete slab, and today we are already talking about how much work has been done”, said I. Metshin.

As I. Giniyatullin noted, one of the positive results of the repair was the health effect. “At my request, the Department of Education has analyzed the number of absences from school due to illness, and we see a decrease in the number after the overhaul. Our children get ill less by 5-8% in the renovated schools. Even if it not all due to the overhaul but still pleasing”, the speaker shared an interesting fact.

“If there are figures, then we need to voice them and enjoy this 5-8% improvement in the health of our children in different schools. Children's health is the most precious thing that we have. This is, indeed, an interesting statistic”, said I. Metshin.

In conclusion, the Mayor noted that the overhaul program for general education institutions is truly unprecedented. “134 schools are repaired. There are 8 more and also schools will be added to the lists for the five-year program due to their age. We communicate with our colleagues from neighboring regions, they certainly cannot dream about such a program. Thanks to Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan.
