(KZN.RU,
August 7, Alsu Safina). More than 5 thousand bicyclists from Kazan, Moscow,
Kirov, Irkutsk, Bugulma, and other cities took part in the “Bicycle Night”,
which was held in Kazan on the night of August 5 to August 6. More than 1
thousand people have registered to participate in the day of the event, said
Daria Sannikov, the director of Tourism Promotion Committee, at today's
Business Monday in the City Hall.
The route
of cycling passed through the residence places of well-known Kazan
philanthropists within the framework of the city project “Kazan is a city of
good deeds”. The exposition of rare bicycle models from the leading sports
shops of Kazan was organized at the starting point of the “Velofest”. There
were also a lot of prizes, including bicycles, among the participants of the
“Velofest”. Additional design and illumination of the objects were organized at
the stops, which allowed the participants to see known buildings in a new
light.
The route
of cycling was 29 km. The broadcast of the excursion took place on the waves of
“Bim Radio”. In addition, the live transmission in a radio broadcast from the
place of events was organized throughout the route, as well as phone calls to
known Kazan speaker, in particular, Tatiana Larionova, the deputy chairman of
the State Council of the RT, who spoke about the party project “Historical
Memory”.
To ensure
the safety of participants along the route, streets were gradually closed.
According to D. Sannikova, 108 units of machinery, 600 metal fencing, 60 posse men,
30 volunteers, and police post were involved. Representatives of the cycling
communities of Kazan and Tatarstan supported the event. They joined the
organizing committee for the preparation of the event.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted the great organizational work. “This is a
very complicated event, which needs to be organized taking into account all
security issues”, he marked.
The head of
the city thanked everyone who took part in the organization. “Every week there
are activities in Kazan that are fun to visit both for citizens and guests of
the city”, said the Mayor. “Life becomes richer and more interesting through
such activities. It is important that every year more people take part in our
festivals and that Kazan is teeming with life. We will continue to do
everything to make the city full of interesting events”.
Ilsur
Metshin reminded how 10 years ago there were only two mass events in the city:
the Republic Day and Sabantuy. “We were scolded then, called for more events”,
he said. “It cannot be done in one day. Nevertheless, it is important that we
are moving forward and expanding both in terms of quantity and quality of
events”. “There is still something to strive for but, according to the
participants, both “Delicious Kazan” and “Bicycle Night” were held at a good
level”, added the Mayor.
