I. Metshin: “The main prize of the Day of the Athlete is not cups but the health of the people”
(KZN.RU, August 7). The Day of Athlete is an important event, in which residents are not passive spectators but active participants. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted this today during the Business Monday, commenting on the holiday that will take place near the Chasha.
S. Vostrikova, the chairman of the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, said that the Day of the Athlete will be held in Kazan on August 12. The main venue will be the area near the Family Center “Kazan”. “Sports events and master classes will be organized for residents and guests of the city”, said the chairman. The venue will begin work at 10 am.
“This holiday became part of our city’s life. A third of Kazan residents actively participate in sports”, said I. Metshin. The head of the city noted that it is necessary to hold the Day of the Athlete at a high level and instructed the heads of district administrations to keep this issue under control. “The main prize here is not certificates and cups but people's health, sports spirit, and a healthy lifestyle”, summed up the Mayor of Kazan.
