(KZN.RU, May
22, Alsu Safina). The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin instructed to ensure the
principle of fairness and friendly atmosphere during the final state exams of
graduates and ninth-graders at Business Monday today. “We must provide the fairness
of all the results, so smart phones, cheat sheets, tips from teachers need to
be eliminated. The main principle is the fairness of the exam. At the same time
nothing prevents to carry out the exams in a friendly atmosphere. Despite the
fact that graduates are 17 years old, they are still children – vulnerable and
troubled in the period of exams. It is clear that cheating is forbidden, but exams
shouldn’t be repressive”, - the Mayor said.
Ilsur
Hadiullin, head of the Department of education, reported that state
examinations will be held from May, 26 to July, 1. In Kazan there are 5313 graduates
and 9909 ninth-graders to participate in the exams. The city organized 66 venues
for passing the unified state examination and the primary state examination, 9 venues
for the final state examination and 41 home venues for children with
disabilities.
For the very
first time at two state exam venues test materials printings and answer sheets scanning
will be provided directly in the classroom this year, and at other venues test
materials will be delivered by the Republican cash collection service.
Kazan follows Moscow
and St.-Petersburg by the quantity of winners and prize-winners of the National
Olympiad for the second consecutive year.
“Despite the fact that
the number of graduates has declined we firmly hold the third place in the Olympiad.
This shows the quality of teaching and quality of education”, - Ilsur Metshin said.
He thanked the teachers who prepared the students, the winners of the contest
and their parents. “This is a very time-consuming work that requires patience,
consistency”, - the Mayor said.
The Mayor also
drew attention to the fact that public opinion monitoring shows that parents do
not have a 100 percent satisfaction with quality of education. Ilsur Metshin
proposed to bring this question into the agenda of the traditional August
conference of educators. “Life changes fast. Gone are the days when the teacher
provided the same information for decades. Now times are completely different,
- the Mayor said. - The teacher should be able to go at different speeds to
keep pace with the changes and to be relevant to our children. This is a large
and painstaking work”, - Ilsur Metshin said.
