April 4). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, met in the City Hall with the
delegation of the City Hall of Ostend (Belgium). Johan Vande Lanotte, the Mayor
of Ostend, Christopher Beuren, the head of the Municipality of Ostend, Evgenia
Lodvigova, the deputy head of the municipal formation of Kazan, Nail Maganov,
the general director of the PAO “Tatneft”, and others took part in the meeting.
The sides
discussed prospects for cooperation. According to the participants, the
cooperation in the field of youth sports, including between school and student
teams of cities, can become one of the priority areas.
Ilsur
Metshin noted that Tatarstan is already cooperating with the Belgian city of
Ostend. “There is a partnership between the oil capital of Tatarstan,
Almetyevsk, and your city”, said the Mayor of Kazan. He also added that the
“Tatneft” is one of the largest enterprises of the republic, which leads not
only successful but also socially responsible business. “This is a personal
position of the enterprise’s manager”, said the Mayor.

Lanotte thanked the city leadership for the hospitality and warm welcome. The
Mayor of the Belgian city expressed his hope for the productive cooperation
between Ostend and Kazan in a number of areas, including industry, transport,
and tourism.

the largest Belgian city on the North Sea coast, as well as a world-famous
resort in West Flanders (68931 inhabitants). The city is the final station of
the state railway Ghent-Ostend.
