I. Metshin: “Modernization of Kazan polyclinics is a matter of the next 2-3 years”

(KZN.RU, March 16). One of the city's largest medical institutions, polyclinic №21 on Zorge Street, will be repaired and put into operation in Kazan this year. Also, a new outpatient institution will appear in the Voznesenskoye village of the Sovetsky district. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, spoke about large-scale plans to modernize the institutions of the primary medical network on the live TV program “Theme”.

During the broadcast, a resident of the house on the Street Gorsovetskaya, 17/1, addressed the Mayor with the question of improving the quality of medical care in polyclinics. “I've been living in Kazan all my life, and recently retired. The elderly often say that life gets worse with years, but I do not agree. For example, our yard was renovated, and a new playground and parking spaces appeared. However, the work of polyclinics remains relevant for us, pensioners. It's hard to get to specialists”, shared the pensioner.

I. Metshin thanked the resident for the question, noting that the townspeople see the changes in the city in the field of improvement of yards and houses’ overhaul. However, the issue of medical services for the population remains one of the acutest. “Statistics show that 80% of the appeals of Kazan residents are on the primary network. The question is absolutely clear, and I am ready to tell what we are going to do. First of all, this is the problem of the whole country. This does not mean that we have to hide behind someone's back. The health care was financed by a residual principle since the collapse of the USSR. There was no overhaul and the replacement of equipment in the city hospitals, polyclinics, and maternity hospitals for decades. Today, the situation is changing. The state pays much attention to this, first of all, to our hospitals, emergency services, where people's lives are saved. There is no federal program for polyclinics yet. But as the Ministry of Health assured us, this year a large polyclinic №21 on Zorge Street will be repaired and put into operation. We will also finish the front of the works in the Voznesenskoye village”, said the Mayor.

The office of general practitioners and district pediatricians will be opened in the Voznesenskoe village on Grachinaya Street. The relevant order was signed in the Cabinet of Ministers of the RT. It is planned to complete the construction this year.

I. Metshin reminded that Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, announced at the reporting session of the Kazan City Duma that a new program for overhauling policlinics would be launched. According to the head of the city, instructions are given, and design and estimate documentation are already being developed. “God grant that there were no economic disasters, so that we could work and create, despite all this complexity, so that enterprises could pay salaries and taxes. Our President plans to repair the institutions of the entire primary network both in the capital and in the republic in next 3-4 years. This is the most important issue for us”, said the Mayor.

The head of the city drew attention to the fact that city hospitals have already been brought to a decent condition in 85% of cases. “But the primary network is still the problem. This year the program will begin to be implemented. Moreover, the most serious program “Friendly polyclinic” is launched. We together with the heads of the districts visited a number of institutions, in which Adel Vafin, the Minister of Health of Tatarstan, presented the project and told how this will be implemented in Kazan. It is not so far away, it is not a bright future. This is what we will see in the next 2-3 years”, said the Mayor, responding to the viewer's question.
