I. Metshin met with the acting General Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan
(KZN.RU, March 7). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, met with Mr. Ali Beman Egbali Zarch, the acting General Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Kazan. The sides discussed issues of further cooperation between the capital of Tatarstan and the cities of Iran.
I. Metshin noted that Kazan and Tatarstan are linked with Iran by long-standing friendly relations, based on interaction in the issues of urban politics and culture. The Mayor of the Tatarstan’s capital reminded that Kazan and the Iranian city of Tabriz are brother cities since 2009, and this meeting became an indicator of friendly relations. “The consulate of Iran was opened 10 years ago, and we were able to achieve considerable success in various joint projects during this time”, said I. Metshin.
The sides discussed further cooperation in the field of culture, industry, tourism, and education. Ali Beman Egbali Zarch said that the Iranian city of Mashhad became the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2017, and the forum of mayors of Islamic states will be held there in April. He invited the Mayor of Kazan to attend the event. Also, representatives of the Iranian delegation proposed to hold the days of Kazan in any city of Iran.
Evgenia Lodvigova, the deputy head of the municipal formation of Kazan, and Shafagat Malemuddin, the consul on economic issues, also took part in the meeting.
