(KZN.RU,
March 1, Anton Nozdrin). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the charity
fund “Day of Good Deeds”. Rustem Khasanov, the director of the fund, told him
about the activity directions of the organization and its projects.
The social
taxi appeared in Kazan in 2013 thanks to the fund. This is a service for
passengers with disabilities. A special minivan is equipped with a ramp,
fixings and other technical means to provide the necessary comfort for
passengers in wheelchairs. All services are provided free of charge, the
project is funded by charitable donations from citizens and organizations. R.
Khasanov noted that the most popular routes are to hospitals, rehabilitation
centers.
In
addition, the fund provides special furniture for seriously ill children, such
as chairs for children with a diagnosis of “cerebral palsy”. The furniture is
made in Kazan on request of the fund. R. Khasanov noted that almost all the
needy in the capital of Tatarstan are provided these products: the queue for
the chairs is only 4 children. Shipping is made by the transportation company
or volunteers. The director said that the organization has provided such chairs
for more than 1000 families in need of them all over the country. For example, a
volunteer traveled hundreds of kilometers on his car to deliver the chair to
family from the village of the Primorsky Krai. More than 300 Russian families
are on the waiting list right now.
I. Metshin
also visited the charity warehouse “Good Hands”, located in Kazan on the street
Dekabristov, 113. R. Khasanov said that objects, books, and other property are
taken from citizens of at the warehouse on weekdays from 9.00 to 18.00. The
distribution is from 9.00 to 13.00. The warehouse is not open on weekends. Every
object has a certain value in points. “We issue no more than 10 thousand points
in one hand, 1 hour is given to the selection of things”, said the director of
the fund. People can come for things the unlimited number of times if they have
the corresponding direction of social services. “Everything is in demand. We
have confidence that things are worn. We see people with clothes, which they
have received”, said R. Khasanov.
The Mayor
praised the activities of the fund. He instructed to study the issue of opening
additional sites for the reception and distribution of things in other parts of
the city to reach as many people in need as possible.
The fund
“Day of Good Deeds” was originated in 2009 as a voluntary movement, when a
group of like-minded people arranged a holiday for children from boarding
schools of Tatarstan in the cinema “Mir”. “We named the campaign “Day of Good
Deeds”. From there came the name of the fund”, said R. Khasanov. The fund was
registered as a non-profit charitable organization in 2012. “We are the union
of the people, connected with the idea that if you spend one day in the year
not for yourself but for others, then life will be better”, said the director
of the fund.
