Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, has arrived in Kazan

(KZN.RU, February 15). Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, arrived late in the evening today in Kazan with two-day friendly visit. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, welcomed the head of the French capital at the International airport “Kazan”.

Anne Hidalgo will stay in Kazan on February 15-16. Official meetings with the leadership of the city and the republic, of the center “Alliance Francaise – Kazan”, a visit to city’s sports facilities, including the stadium “Kazan Arena”, the Palace of water sports, Universiade Village, are planned within the visit.

Evgeniya Lodvigova, the deputy head of the municipal formation of Kazan, noted on the last Business Monday that the visit will also be aimed at strengthening the ties between Paris and Kazan, the development of tourism, culture and sports.

In addition, the head of the French capital is interested in the Kazan’s successful experience of wins in nomination activities of major international competitions. Paris is a candidate to host the Summer Olympic Games 2024. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, supported the application of Paris along with more than 50 heads of cities.

On December 13, 2016, the agreement in the field of tourism, culture and sports was signed between Kazan and Paris in the French capital. The agreement provides the establishment of bilateral relations on a long term basis. It is planned to organize an exhibition of paintings, brought from Paris, in the framework of cultural exchange in Kazan. And Kazan will hold in the French capital the national holiday Sabantui in spring of 2017 to acquaint the Parisians with the customs and traditions of the Tatar people, including gastronomical ones.
