(KZN.RU,
February 13, Alsu Safina). Friendly visit of Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris,
to Kazan will take place on February 15-16. Official meetings with the
leadership of the city and the republic, with the center “Alliance Francaise –
Kazan”, a visit to the sports facilities of the city, including the stadium
“Kazan Arena”, the Palace of water sports, Universiade Village are planned
during the visit, said Evgeniya Lodvigova, the deputy head of the municipality
of Kazan, at the Business Monday.
She
reminded that the agreement in the field of tourism, culture and sport between
Kazan and Paris was signed on December 13 in the French capital. “The upcoming
visit is aimed at strengthening ties between Paris and Kazan, as well as the
development of tourism, culture and sports”, said E. Lodvigova. The last is
important due to the fact that Paris is a candidate to host the Summer Olympic
Games 2024. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, supported the application of the
capital of France along with more than 50 heads of cities.
E.
Lodvigova remembered the remarkable fact: 21 years ago, Alain Juppe, the Prime
Minister of France in that period, visited Kazan in mid-February, and the
agreement on the development of the French culture center “Alliance Francaise”
was signed. “We hope that the current visit will bring together Paris and
Kazan, will make our relationship mutually beneficial and will strengthen the
position of Kazan in the international arena”, she said.
The Mayor
of Kazan drew attention to the fact that Paris is an active member of the
United Cities and Local Governments, and like its predecessor, has always been
the center of this large international activity. “If 10 years ago we were told
that the Mayor of Paris will come to learn from the Kazan’s successful
experience of wins in nomination activities, whether it is the Universiade, the
World Cup in water sports, or the “WorldSkills”, it would be hard to believe”,
said the Mayor.
By the way,
the capital of Tatarstan surpassed Paris in the race to become the host of the
professional skill championship in 2019.
“We learn
from each other and we want to make our cities, residents and best practices
were closer to each other. We will be friends with Paris!”, marked I.
Metshin.
