(KZN.RU, July 27). President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Exhibition Center of the International Institute of Antiques in Kazan. The head of the republic was accompanied by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Airat Sibagatullin, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Irek Faizullin, and Tatarstan’s Minister of Youth, Sport and Tourism Rafis Burganov. The exhibition was presented to the guests by the owner of the ASG group of companies Alexei Semin.
The exhibition features works of Western European art and 17th – 19th century furniture and interiors from the ASG fine arts collection. In all, this collection includes more than 1,700 items, but only some of them are exhibited. In early June this year, the ASG Group donated a collection of 19th century furniture and works of art to the "Vozrozhdenie” (Renaissance) fund. For the time being, the collection is kept in the gallery.
Alexei Semin told Rustam Minnikhanov about his plans to organize in Kazan a museum of private collections, where art works owned by collectors would be exhibited. Besides, creation of a virtual museum was suggested to the head of Tatarstan. This museum would contain photographs of works of art, pictures of various stages of their restoration, and detailed information about each exhibit.
Minnikhanov supported the idea but thought that this museum should not preclude the need for "live" exhibits. In this regard, the head of Tatarstan suggested that A. Semin implement the project of a private collections museum.
