December 19). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, was among the leaders of the
National rating of Mayors by the results of 2016. The head of Tatarstan’s
capital took second place. A study on the evaluation of the regional capitals’
mayors of and large financial and industrial centers of the Russian Federation
was prepared by the Center for Information Communications “Rating” together
with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
According
to experts, this result is not unexpected. Kazan has been evolving for many
years as a city, open to the whole of Russia, for investment and holding
various events, including international ones. Experts point out that the
tourism sector has received strong development in recent years. Kazan is
positioned as the “third capital” of Russia. Infrastructure (renovated
monuments, hotels, the formed river embankment) allows continuously improving
the service and make Kazan attractive for Russian and foreign tourists. The
presentation of development plans of Kazan until 2030 by Ilsur Metshin caused a
great resonance.
The
activity of 88 mayors of Russian cities was evaluated during the rating.
Leaders of all the subjects’ capitals of the RF with the addition of
representatives of the five major financial and economic centers are among
them: Magnitogorsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Novokuznetsk, Sochi, and Togliatti.
This year, Alexander Moor, the head of Tyumen, took the first place. The
maximum wide range with experts of different professional and social status is
involved in the National ranking of mayors.
