Ilsur Metshin: “We need to put the living firs in the yards of schools, where New Year is celebrated”
(KZN.RU, December 12, Alsu Safina). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, instructed the heads of districts administrations to prevent the occurrence of unauthorized trees trade places today at the Business Monday. “We brought the tradition of planting living trees in areas, where Christmas trees event are held. Some firs are more than 5 years old”, said I. Metshin. “My personal opinion is that it is humanely and right. It is not necessary to cut down a tree for two weeks holiday”.
According to Ilsur Metshin, living firs should be planted near schools, in the yards and places, where it is tradition to meet the most important holiday of the year. “Tomorrow agenda is this: if it is a living fir, then it must be planted. In summer, it grows, and in winter it could be decorated”, he added. The Mayor noted that the majority of the Kazan inhabitants today decorate their homes with artificial trees that can be used for many years.
A sale of Christmas trees for those who are faithful to the tradition of decorating the house with a living fir, should be organized in a civilized way, sure the Mayor. Two auctions to lease sites for trees trading were organized in the city for this purpose. “We need to make sure that there was not unauthorized trading sites and cutting down trees”, Ilsur Metshin addressed to the heads of districts administrations of Kazan.
Ruslan Zainetdinov, the chairman of the Consumer Market Committee, said that 21 sites were prepared for auctions to lease the Christmas trees trade this year in Kazan in all districts of the city, except the Sovetsky district. The area of each is 20 square meters. Initial cost is more than 6 thousand rubles. Applications were received for 13 lots. Leases signed in the amount of 249,000 rubles.
Residents of the Sovetsky district can buy a living Christmas tree on the sites of shopping centers “Megastroy”, “Altyn-T” and ‘OBI”, in the Agroprompark, as well as in the markets “Dauria”, “Rodina” and “Derby”.
