R. Minnikhanov and I. Metshin congratulated the staff of the Kazan plant “Tochmash” on the anniversary

(KZN.RU, November 18). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, and Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, took part in the meeting of scientific and technical council of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Kazan plant of precision engineering (KPPE).

Before the event R. Minnikhanov and Yuri Mikhailov, the chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Russian Military-Industrial Commission and the deputy chairman of the board of Russian Military-Industrial Commission, visited the production site of the plant. Artur Hisameev, the director of the “KPPE”, spoke about the current activity of the enterprise, as well as the implementation of a measures set for the modernization of existing facilities.

After examination of main units, the guests visited the new museum of the history of the plant “Tochmash”. The exhibition presents information booths, various documents, photos, awards and product samples, which were issued on the KPPE at different times.

Opening session of the scientific-technical council of the Russian Military-Industrial Commission, Yuri Mikhailov noted that Tatarstan is one of the centers of the Russian defense industry.

“Plants of different areas are concentrated in the republic: the production of ammunition, aircraft design, and engineering. It is the most powerful region in terms of the defense industry”, said the chairman of the scientific and technical council of the Russian Military-Industrial Commission.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the organizers for the fact that the capital of Tatarstan was chosen as the venue for this event, and precisely the Kazan plant of precision engineering.

According to the President pf the RT, the “Tochmash” was in “limbo” state for a long time. Even questions about the appropriateness of continued plant operation were raised. But it was possible to keep the KPPE thanks to the support of the federal center. “Today, this enterprise has a great future. Products, manufactured at this plant, are necessary for our country”, said R. Minnikhanov. “Huge investments were aimed at modernization and reconstruction. We visited the shops before the meeting: both the state of the equipment and the mood of the people show that the situation has changed for the better”.

The defense order is the key to stable operation for a number of our businesses, said R. Minnikhanov. Only in the “Tochmash”, there are about 850 people employed. “Modernization and the creation of a research center is seriously enhance the competitiveness of the plant”, said the President of the RT.

R. Minnikhanov noted that none of the defense plant was closed for the entire post-Soviet period in Tatarstan. “The country's leadership does not remain indifferent in the most difficult times, taking part in the decision of the further fate of these enterprises together with the republic”, emphasized the President.

R. Minnikhanov congratulated the staff of the Kazan plant of precision engineering with the 75th anniversary and presented awards of the Republic of Tatarstan to distinguished employees of the enterprise, reports the press-service of the President of the RT.

The Kazan plant of precision engineering was founded in 1941 on the basis of evacuated Leningrad plant named after M. Kalinin. Leningrad workers became the main core, around which a work team was formed to revive the company in a new place. During the Great Patriotic War, the “Tochmash” served the needs of the front along with the entire industry of the country.

In the first decades of the postwar period, the plant produces mainly in agricultural area. In the 60s, the KPPE team mastered the production of articles, which ushered in the development of a new direction in the activities, based on radio electronics, optics and thermal engineering. The plant was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1981.

The Federal government enterprise “Kazan plant of precision engineering” is a highly equipped company, which has the necessary areas, universal technological equipment, qualified personnel, extensive experience in the development and establishment of mass production of complex high-tech products, manufactured in the interests of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense and other law enforcement agencies. The plant has the necessary buildings and structures, as well as equipment, providing production of parts, made of metal turning, by cold forming, injection molding, compression; application of various types of protective and decorative coatings; production of cutting and measuring tools, dies, molds; testing the finished product for all parameters specified by technical conditions.
